This magnificent kitchen-living space was originally a stable, part of which had been used as a garage and entertainment room.  It’s now been transformed into a spacious kitchen and is linked back to the main Georgian coach house. The soaring ceiling height means that it feels immensely spacious, so everything is on a grand scale, with dramatic lighting, two islands and original exposed oak beams. The new steel supports had to be added to comply with building regulations, and simply emphasise the bold, dramatic design. Our design team made a step in the wall between the two tall cabinets and in front of the sink run. The ‘step’ hides all the tanking and pipework, and is cleverly aligned with the tall cabinets for that all-important symmetrical aspect. We are full of admiration for our client’s bold colour choice for the islands, which is Deep Space Blue by Little Greene – an incredibly vibrant hue which brings the kitchen-living space to life.
