We are just finishing a lovely kitchen for a local customer. They came into the workshop at the weekend and seem delighted with it. I am so pleased that they suggested a curved shaker door at the end of the run as it softens the access to the adjacent door which leads to the garden. We tend not to do many curved doors or cabinets due to them being very labour intensive. Perhaps we should do more.
The cabinet frame, door rails and stiles are made of Tulipwood and the door panel is made from layers of flexi-ply. The flexi-ply is shaped using a mould and a vacuum press which holds the ply in shape until the glue sets and then it will retain the shape. There is a plinth piece above the unit which is shaped in the same way.
