Our clients had a clear idea of the layout of their new kitchen when they came to us, which made the design process fairly straightforward. We worked with the clients stylistically. The aim was to have a modern kitchen but with a nod to more ornate and traditional elements – we achieved this by adding moulding within the shaker panels and adding a cockbead detail on all the drawers. Having such a simple sink elevation makes the kitchen feel light and airy. Most of the storage for the kitchen is incorporated inside the run of tall units. We kept the symmetry here with two tall larders at either end. The American fridge freezer sits surrounded by two dressers. These are glazed with plenty of added light to showcase the client’s collection of glass and china. We kept the wall units only around the hob and opted for a freestanding shelf above the sink to leave the skylight unobstructed. Colour-wise, the client opted for a very classic combination of French Grey on perimeter cabinets and Basalt on the island with white marble lookalike quartz worktops.
